COMMIT Ministries is helping the Mugomari community in Kenya to maintain a high school mostly for orphans. This village has been ravaged by HIV/AIDS and though the government provides for some education costs, 80% unemployment tempts many to sell their children to an arranged marriage, or to an army, or into a life of sexual slavery rather than send them to school. Just because they are in school, many of these very bright kids are sent home for lack of school fees. No fees, no school…no school, no future. Your sponsorship provides hot meals each day, pays PTA, national exam, and extracurricular fees, helps to hire teachers, and even helps the school maintain their facility. This young lady is Rabecca Ameyo. As of March 6, she is 18 years old and a very good student in Form 4. She lives with her parents and three siblings on a small plot of land they tend for food. There are no discretionary funds to pay school fees. She lists Business and Mathematics as favorite subjects and hopes to become a Lawyer someday. She also enjoys singing and dancing too.
