COMMIT Ministries is helping the Mugomari community in Kenya to maintain a high school mostly for orphans. This village has been ravaged by HIV/AIDS and though the government provides for some education costs, 80% unemployment tempts many to sell their children to an arranged marriage, or to an army, or into a life of sexual slavery rather than send them to school. Just because they are in school doesn’t mean they can stay. Many of these very bright kids are sent home for lack of school fees. No fees, no school; no school, no future. Your sponsorship provides hot meals each day, helps to hire teachers, provide dormitory lodging for some, and even helps the school maintain their facility. This young lady is Marion Ibaraba. As of April 3, she is 16 years old and a very good student in Form 3. She lives at home with her four siblings and peasant farmer parents who struggle to care for their family and pay school fees. She lists Math and Geography as her favorite subjects and truly loves to sing!
